The Daily

Shall I miss you now or hours later?

Old friends drift away quicker than they come.

Time makes fools of us and hope, its traitor

And the winds blow me down, make me feel numb.

Sentiment ruins the rawest of foes

And absence runs ragged my hardened heart.

While poison seeps through the friends that I chose,

A summer brings hope that with time apart,

I’ll find relief in thoughts that have faded

Milestones into mem'ries, pain into dust

I pretend who I am isn’t jaded

When sun brings shine upon my soul’s old rust,

As I wish for a past that creaks less loud

I speak to myself, a secret avowed
